Seven months into the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces regained control of the city of Izium after five months of Russian occupation. Upon assessing the city, a mass grave of over 440 bodies—mostly civilian—was found. This is one city, one mass grave. The atrocities raging in Ukraine, and beyond, since February of 2022 continue— and for what? How many more lives will be lost & taken before it ends? How do wars, genocides, and acts of violence like this continue to endure, to be perpetrated?
